New COVID controls and quarantine measures are being implemented in Beijing and Shanghai after an increase in infections. As of today, China has 144 newly confirmed cases. Of these are 18 imported cases registered in Shanghai, Tianjin, Beijing, Hubei, Guangdong and Guangxi. Others 126 are locally transmitted cases, engraved in Heilongjiang, Jilin, Hebei, Beijing, Shanxi and Shandong. However, as is the curious way that China has its Covid infections, there are also another 113 new asymptomatic infections.

Larger cities in China, including Beijing and Shanghai, are busy implementing new procedures in an attempt to combat the tip in infections.

The Shanghai pandemic office for Pandemia Prevention and Control this week advised residents who do not abandon the city during the upcoming Chinese New Year holidays. Those who wish to come to Shanghai from high or medium domestic areas have also been asked to delay their plans until their area has been designated at low risk.

Anyone who goes to Shanghai from a high or medium will be required that the domestic area will be presented to 14 days of quarantine and two nucleic acid tests, according to the advertisement. At this time it is not clear if the quarantine would be in a centralized installation or not.

The city's travel centers, residential units, schools and hotels have also been asked to intensify temperature monitoring and health codes inspections until new notice. It is expected that these measures are instead until March 31.

Meanwhile, Beijing has extended its quarantine period and monitoring for arrivals abroad even more. Now international arrivals will be required to complete 14 days in centralized quarantine, plus seven days of quarantine at home and seven other days of health monitoring, city officials told a press conference on Tuesday. This extends the general monitoring period to a 28-day whopping, although the accuracy of the final stage of "monitoring health" implies is not clear.

According to an official statement on the Beijing Government WeChat account, the new rules reflect the growing concern about imported cases and longer incubation periods that have been recently seen in patients.
