The idea that they’re "unemployable" is as silly as saying a musician can’t play an instrument because they're in a different country. But let's get to the heart of this issue and explore why teaching English abroad, particularly here in China might not be just for those who couldn't find work back home.

The notion that expats are "losers" is often perpetuated by people who don’t understand what it’s like to live or teach overseas. According to various studies on ELT teachers' experiences worldwide and their job satisfaction levels, the reality of teaching English in China goes beyond just being a viable option for employment – but an entire world waiting to be explored.

In terms of cultural immersion alone - there is so much that can enrich one’s experience here: from observing unique social customs at dinner gatherings with colleagues or feeling like you belong when sharing meals and laughter around the table, all while deepening understanding about China's culture.

A teacher working in an international school explained how they ended up teaching English after their application was accepted - "I couldn’t get a job back home so I began to teach here instead." But this joke has been used one too many times; it doesn't apply when we're discussing the real experiences of expat teachers who are indeed thriving.

As an ELT teacher, you may have access not just to state-of-the-art facilities but also world-class cutting-edge technology for teaching practice. There is support from schools themselves and tailored training programs designed specifically around China’s unique education system - all aimed at lowering levels of isolation caused by language barriers or cultural differences between international staff members.

In fact some teachers even reported they have formed lifelong friendships within Chinese communities – having their experiences first hand through interactions with students, community leaders along side being part in a rich heritage here.
